This particular unit of work includes a selection of engaging theory tasks (see below) that will enable them to gain new knowledge of this popular cuisine. Learners will then have the opportunity to plan, prepare and follow a Cottage Pie recipe and method. What can be used - Being a very versatile dish this allows learners to include the basic and less common ingredients. They can discuss different tastes, likes an dislikes.
Traditional British foods - An activity that requires the learners to unscramble anagrams of various British foods and brainstorm any others they are familiar with.
The Perfect Cottage Pie - Learners to work in pairs to investigate alternative ingredients and how they can accommodate lactose and wheat intolerances.
Health and Safety - A task that enables learners to highlight health, hygiene and safety awareness in the Kitchen.

Health and Safety - A task that enables learners to highlight health and safety awareness in the Kitchen.
What will you need? - A ‘letter fill’ activity revealing the ingredients for the practical element.

What is Pizza - Introductory small writing task that promotes group discussion.
History of the Pizza - A true and False Quiz that will educate learners on facts of this world foods origin (answers on the last page)
Types of Pizza - An activity that requires the learner to match up ingredients with the correct pizza name (Italian to English).
The Perfect Pizza - Learners to work in pairs to investigate alternative ingredients and how they can accommodate lactose and wheat intolerances.
